ABOUT THE ROLE

Hours of work: Variable

Salary: £13.45 per hour, plus holiday pay, with sleepovers paid at £131.14 per night.

Place of work: L’Arche Edinburgh Community House(s) and Flats

Contract type: Relief

Main purpose of the role

As a Relief Care and Support Worker, you will provide one-to-one support to people with learning disabilities living in a variety of settings, in line with agreed support and care plans, in all aspects of their everyday lives, while enabling them to lead a full and active life at home and in the community. 

You will deliver practical, physical and emotional support to people with learning disabilities, whilst proactively promoting choice, independence and self-determination.

Support of people with learning disabilities

You will:

• Assist with the personal hygiene, dress and health needs of individuals in their home;

• Facilitate individuals to meet their leisure, social, practical and spiritual needs;

• Encourage individuals in their ongoing development of independence;

Building an atmosphere of mutual relationships:

You will:

• Foster positive relationships with both assistants and people with a learning disability;
• Assist in celebrations and support spiritual life so that there is an atmosphere of welcome and friendship;
